In addition to players, there are two coaches and a staff member on playoff-bound NHL teams as well. MSU's all-time record in the NCAA Tournament is now 30-29-1.••Michigan State is 10-8-4 against ranked teams this season, and 6-3-1 against teams ranked in the top five at the time of the game.••The Spartans are 2-10-0 when trailing entering the third period, but MSU has outscored its opponents 35-31 in the third period this season.••MSU has reached the NCAA Regional Final in each of its last three tournament appearances. MSU made Regional Final in 2006 and 2008, and won the National Championship in 2007.••MSU played a team from the ECAC in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1989, when the Spartans fell to Harvard in the national semifinals. Harvard went on to win its only National Championship that season.••The Spartans had an apparent goal waved off in the waning moments of the first period.
